Your team of directors has been working hard going through the registrations and putting the teams together. We ask that you be patient and not contact them to inquire as to to whose team you are on or who is on your team. Once the rosters are finalized, they will be forwarded to the coaches, who will in turn contact you by the 15th of April.
When we put teams together, we do so to benefit everyone in the community. Coaches are not permitted to pick their players and vice versa. We do everything we can to keep friends together, but only if the final team is a balanced one. Every choice or decision comes down to what is in the best interest of the player to ensure that everyone has a fun, memorable season. So while we are working to keep everyone happy, please remember that it really is all about the kids and their enjoyment of the game.
We have some new exciting programs for our players this year and we are looking forward to watching Ottewell Soccer get even better!
Our first initiative is a pick-up league. We are planning on starting this in April for players born 1996 - 2001. This will be a drop in program for everyone to play together; it will be chaperoned by at least one coach. We will start with one day per week and see how this progresses. The plan is for the “league” to run into the fall: until the snow flies. If we find it to be successful, we will look at doing the same for some of the other players. Please continue to check ottewell.org with exact start dates.
We will also be offering endurance training for all players. This will be a minimum of once a week and consist of long distance running. Anyone looking to improve their cardio is welcome to join us. Date and time TBA.
All U16 and older players as well as all premier players (ie storm) require player cards. Please ensure that yours is current and up to date.
(Please bring Gov’t ID. $20 fee applies for lost cards.) The carding sessions are as follows at the south soccer centre:
April 10, 12, 17, 19, 26 from 3 - 8 pm
May 1 from 3 - 8 pm
Please note that the EMSA office is closed for carding purposes during this time. Please attend a scheduled carding session.
All U14 coaches: MANDATORY U14 Community Mill Woods/South East Combined League Coach Meeting/Schedule Pick Up (Leefield Comm League) on April 24 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.
COACHES MEETING: All coaches must attend on April 12 at 7 pm in the rink shack.
