New mandatory restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Alberta have just been announced.
Effective immediately: all social gatherings are banned
Effective Sunday, December 13: all other measures (detailed below)
- Effective immediately all indoor and outdoor social gatherings are prohibited.
- Gatherings of any kind are limited to household contacts only.
Community leagues are in violation of public health guidelines and can be fined if they host any activity or event where people can gather with the exception of outdoor rinks (even if it is 10 people or less).
- Outdoor ice rinks can continue to operate.
The EFCL is currently working with AHS Environmental Health to determine what, if any, additional precautions and restrictions will need to be in effect.
- Skating on the ice is allowed as long as those from different households keep two metres of physical distance at all times.
Leagues should limit rink activities to those activities where attendees remain physically distanced and can abide by all public health measures.
- OCL Rink Shack & washrooms will remain closed.
If Leagues choose to keep their washrooms open while the ice rinks are operational, they must have a plan to ensure enhanced cleaning is taking place and crowding does not occur. Leagues are also free to keep their washrooms closed to the general public at this time.
These measures will stay in effect for the next 4 weeks or until January 5, 2021.
***Previous fines and enforcement are still apply***
and will not reopen until advised to do so.
